Are you a registered organization?

We are a non-profit organization registered with the Canada Revenue Agency as a charitable organization. This allows us to issue tax receipts for tax deduction to governments.

What does the Fondation la Collecte do?

We are a non-profit organization founded in 1998 and we support Big Brothers Big Sisters through our clothing and household items collection activities.  The funds we collect are used to finance youth mentoring programs to realize the full potential of young people and equip them for the future.

What do you do with our donated clothing and household items?

The clothing and household items donated are sold to Value Village or for exportation.  Surpluses generated by these activities are used to support youth mentoring.

Can a monetary donation be made in addition to a donation of clothing and household items?

Yes, absolutely by going directly through our Donate $ tab. A tax receipt will be sent to you at the end of the year.

Do you collect furniture or appliances?

No and here is the list of refused items: 

  • Appliances and furniture
  • Mattresses and bed frames
  • Large electrical appliances (television)
  • Heavy objects
  • Bicycles for adults and children
  • Tires and car parts (car seats)
  • Household hazardous waste
  • Building materials
  • Putrescible materials
  • Plumbing and electrical items

Can I donate damaged clothing and small items?

No, we only accept items that are clean and in good condition.

Can you drop by today for a pickup at my home?

In order to minimize our costs, we visit the areas served on a regular basis, approximately four times a year. To take advantage of this service, please complete the home pickup service form. Once registered, you will receive an email notifying you two weeks prior to our visit in your area.

However, you can still drop off your clothes in our many donation bins, visit our Donation Center la Collecte in Lorraine or our warehouse in Montreal-North.

If you have more than 50 boxes or bags, please contact us by phone during office hours.

How do I prepare my clothing and household items donation?

Please use bags and boxes with special care to fragile items. Please identify your boxes and donation bags with the mention FLC for ‘Fondation la Collecte’.

At what time will you be passing by? I cannot stay at home all day.

You don’t have to be home. We invite you to leave your donations in front of your outside door in boxes or bags identified as FLC for ‘Fondation La Collecte’ before 8 a.m. on the day of the pick-up. It is not possible for us to tell you the exact time that our driver will pass by.  It will be between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.

I can’t leave my donations outside or I live in a building.

It is possible to leave these either in the entrance of the building / lobby or in front of your apartment or condo door condo as long as it is possible for you to open it remotely to our employee.

Will I receive a confirmation of the pickup day?

Absolutely, a reminder email will be sent to you two to three days prior. In addition, you will receive an email announcing our arrival in your area two weeks before the scheduled pickup.
